The High Country Transition
The Jashpur plateau rises out of the plains into deep valleys, open grassland, and forest that runs to the ridgeline. Four tribal communities live across it, and almost everything here — the trails, the tea gardens, the land around the falls — is theirs. We come up slowly from Ranchi and travel at the plateau’s own pace, staying among the people whose country it is.
Day 1: The Ascent
Departure from Ranchi for a steady drive into Jashpur. We establish our base at the Jashpur and spend the afternoon observing the local rhythms of the town.
Day 2: The Ridge and the Forest
A morning hike along the Deshdekha ridgeline to Madheshwar Parvat, following a forest trail to the summit. The afternoon is spent at the Sarudih tea garden and the Local Museum of Jashpur, ending the day at the tiered cascades of Rani Dah.
Day 3: The High Plains
A day spent in the highest reaches of the region. We cross the vast, open plains of Pandrapat and Sanna, eventually reaching the spray of the massive Makkarbhajja waterfall.
Day 4: The Riverine Path
A day dedicated to the waterfalls of Gullu and Churi. We spend the afternoon at the Mayali Dam for water sports before returning to our base at Jashpur.
Day 5: The Final Return
A final morning on the plateau before the drive back to Ranchi for departure.
Ancestral Stewardship:
Our field team in Jashpur is drawn from the tribal communities of the plateau. They are not interpreters of the landscape for visitors — it is their own, and they set what is shown, what is not, and how it is approached.
Economic Integrity:
Every local partner and field master is paid a pre-agreed fee at industry-standard rates. Payment is made directly and in full — transferred in advance, or handed over in person before we leave.
Operational Intelligence:
We handle the administrative layer — tribal area permissions, forest clearances, entry formalities. These run through relationships our founder built in Jashpur personally, one at a time, over a year on the ground.
