The Hiden Gems of Kashmir

This route focuses on the raw, monumental side of the valley. We leave the standard sightseeing paths to find the records of the Karkota and Utpala dynasties. From the 14th-century wood-and-brick architecture of Srinagar’s interior to the massive basalt ruins of Martand and the deep river-source at Verinag, the focus is on the physical history of the land. We have timed this journey to allow for a true witness of the mountain character—a world defined by ancient stone, sacred water-springs, and the absolute silence of the high-altitude frontier.

Phase 01: The Sacred Basin (Days 1–2)

Day 1: Arrival in Srinagar. A day of calibration to the 5,200ft valley floor. We establish our base on the water, observing the local rhythms of the lake at a slow pace.

Day 2: The Tulmulla Witness. Movement to Kheer Bhawani (Tulmulla). We spend the day at this sacred spring-sanctuary, observing the shifting colors of the water and the ancient chinar groves that define this spiritual baseline.

Day 3: The Sun Temple. Movement toward the southern frontier. We visit the 8th-century Martand Sun Temple, witnessing the massive basalt colonnades and the prehistoric scale of the ruins overlooking the valley.

Day 4: The Tirth. Exploration of Mattan (Martand Tirth). We observe the sacred fish-basins and the 19th-century architecture of the temple complex before moving toward the upper reaches of the Anantnag district.

Day 5: Jhelum Udgam. Movement to Verinag (Veth Vatru), the source of the Jhelum River. We spend the day at the octagonal stone basin built by the Mughals, witnessing the deep blue waters that feed the entire valley. In the evening, we reach the Daksum forest outpost.

Day 6: The Sinthan Frontier. We climb to the Sinthan Top (12,500ft). This is an off-beat high-altitude pass connecting Kashmir to Kishtwar. We spend the day observing the raw granite peaks and the absolute stillness of the high ridges.

Day 7: The Hidden Valley. Movement to Chatpal, one of the most isolated outposts in the valley. A day of unhurried presence amidst the walnut orchards and the clear mountain streams, away from any modern grid.

Day 8: Final morning witness of the southern highlands before the return movement to Srinagar for departure.
