Beyond the Headlines
This sequence is a deep study of the Bastar plateau. We move away from the common tourist roads to follow the “Forbidden Corridor”—a route that connects the tiered waterfalls of the Kanger Valley with the restricted, silent ridges of Abujhmad. This journey focuses on the transition of the landscape: from the prehistoric stone ruins of Barsur to the vertical spray of Nambi. We prioritize the “Soak,” ensuring the pace allows for a true witness of the tribal rhythms and the remaining wilderness of Central India.
Phase 01: The Plateau Entry (Day 1)
Day 1: Arrival in Raipur. A long-distance transition into the heart of Jagdalpur. Evening spent by the Dalpat Sagar lake for a briefing on the forest protocols.
Phase 02: The Forest Pulse (Day 2)
Day 2: Kanger Valley. A day dedicated to the tiered cascades of Tirathgarh and the biological richness of the national park. We spend the day under the Sal canopy, documenting the riverine soul of the forest.
Phase 03: The Stone Witness (Day 3)
Day 3: Barsur & Dholkal. A ride to the 10th-century ruins of Barsur, followed by a steady hike to the Dholkal ridge. At 3,000 feet, we witness a prehistoric Ganesha idol overlooking the endless forest.
Phase 04: The Deep Valley (Day 4)
Day 4: Nambi & Michnar. A ride to the remote Nambi Waterfall. We return via the Michnar ridgeline, which offers a panoramic view of the plateau’s topography.
Phase 05: The Liquid Horizon (Day 5)
Day 5: The Ghoomar Sequence. Witnessing the seasonal mists of Tamda and Mendri Ghoomar. We end the day at the massive scale of Chitrakoot Falls, establishing our residency near the roar of the water.
Phase 06: The Unknown Hills (Day 6)
Day 6: Abujhmad. A ride to Kondagaon and an entry into the restricted Abujhmad corridor. A day spent exploring the “unknown hills,” moving through ancestral villages and the quiet lifestyle of the Maria people.
Phase 07: The Return (Day 7)
Day 7: Final morning in the forest. A long-distance transition back to Raipur (RPR) for departure.
